Use the 7Z to ZIP converter, add the 7Z archive, choose a ZIP compression profile, convert in the browser, and download the new ZIP.
Why convert 7Z to ZIP?
7Z is popular for compact archives and advanced desktop tooling. ZIP is more universal across operating systems, mobile devices, browser downloads, and business workflows. A ZIP copy can be easier to share with people who do not have a dedicated 7Z utility.
How to convert 7Z to ZIP
- Open the 7Z to ZIP tool.
- Add a supported 7Z archive.
- Select Store, Balanced, or Maximum ZIP compression.
- Convert. The 7Z decoder loads only when needed and runs inside a browser worker.
- Download the ZIP and test it with the software or device where it will be used.
Compression and file size
A 7Z archive can be smaller than the equivalent ZIP because the formats use different compression methods and settings. Converting to ZIP may therefore increase file size. Choosing Maximum ZIP compression can reduce the output in some cases, but it cannot guarantee a ZIP as small as the original 7Z.
If file size is more important than broad compatibility, keeping the 7Z original may be the better choice.
Safety and compatibility
Password-protected archives, unsafe paths, duplicate normalized paths, symbolic links, special entries, corrupt containers, and archives exceeding browser safety limits are rejected rather than partially converted. Regular file payloads and safe directory structure are the main compatibility target; specialized metadata is not guaranteed to survive repackaging.
Supported 7Z content is decoded locally through a lazy-loaded WebAssembly runtime. The source archive is not sent to a conversion server.
